OIZA is a London-based womenswear brand founded in 2022 by Olivia Ozi-Oiza Chance. Positioned within contemporary luxury, the brand explores the dialogue between African and British cultural histories, examining their points of alignment and tension through material, ceremony and dress.
Born to a Nigerian mother and an English father, Chance grew up navigating a multicultural household that prompted early questions around identity and belonging. OIZA is rooted in personal narrative and emerged as a visual celebration of her dual heritage, with particular reverence for Nigerian culture and ceremonial practices. Through her distinct storytelling lens, Chance challenges perceptions of Black identity within the luxury space, reframing it with nuance, intimacy and authority.
The brand is recognised for its commitment to “craft”. Collections centre on meticulously hand-stitched paneled lace cloth constructed in-house and detailed hand embroidery, including the signature floral cowrie shell motif. These elements form an intricate and graphic visual language that speaks to memory, emotion and heritage. While rooted in womenswear, the silhouettes maintain a considered openness, extending to a gender-expansive audience.
